Reuben smith's tumblehome boatshop is focused on the high‐end restoration and new construction of historic and classic wooden boats.. These are 29' keel boats designed in the early 1920's. they have fully restored two of them (featured in woodenboat a while back) and are finishing up a third right now. i think the most beautiful boat in the shop was a totally restored 1916 fay and bowen torpedo sterned launch. they have two large buildings.. The plans and building notes show how to build the boat with or without the tumblehome if the builder prefer straight sides. the boat is too small to be fitted with a self bailing sole but she can be made unsinkable with the addition of buoyancy foam.. Tumblehome is a traditional 2 berth cruiser consisting of a double berth in the main cabin, which makes her ideal for couples and small families. offering a comfortable and relaxing trip, there is a good level of equipment on-board, including a gas cooker and hob, under counter fridge, shower and toilet facilities.. I met scott at the 2013 bainbridge island wooden boat festival while he was relaxing on the beautiful 42′ double ended sloop – tumblehome – he designed and built. we had a great time talking shop and i learned what a rotating wing spar is :)..
